Ceremonies performed: Weddings, Naming Ceremonies, Funerals

After a long career in broadcasting, becoming a Humanist Celebrant felt like a natural step. I am obviously used to public speaking, writing scripts and meeting so many different people. Helping someone through the best and worst days of their lives is such a privilege. No two days are ever the same in this job, and having lost both my parents many years ago, it was incredibly important to me that their own unique personalities and stories were told at their funerals, not only that, but it gave everyone a chance to smile, as well as shed a tear. I’ve lived in Glasgow all my life, and my three children are no longer children! They’ve all grown up and left the nest, so this has been the perfect time to become a celebrant. I'm blown away by the generosity and genuine care shown to me by my colleagues within HSS, I am now part of a bigger family, a world away from television, and it feels great. ** PLEASE NOTE I ONLY COVER THE GLASGOW AREA**

Wedding & Civil Partnership Ceremonies

Having qualified as a registered wedding celebrant, the enquiries haven't stopped!
The wonderful thing about booking with HSS, is that all of our scripts are uploaded to the Cloud, so that in the unlikely event of illness or circumstance (we're only human!) we guarantee to have the agreed ceremony delivered by another of our other celebrants, and will never let you down.
I'd prefer to work only one year in advance, to be sure of giving each couple their own unique ceremony, without taking on too many bookings at a time, however I'm happy to pencil dates beyond that, so do get in touch. (*please note I work in and around the Glasgow area only)
I am loving the diversity of stories and ideas, and as I meet each couple, planning their big day together with them, is such an honour. I like to be well organised, so if you're not very good at communicating, or are very disorganised, perhaps I am not the celebrant for you!
I will ask you to give me lots of information, to be sure of creating something unique and personal, a day you'll never forget, and we can then work on it together, until you're sure it's perfect for the two of you. I've been married for 28years, and although we didn't have HSS back then, we did it our way, and made it very special. Thank you so much to all those who have entrusted the most important day of their lives so far, to me, it's going to be fantastic!

Naming & Welcoming Ceremonies

What could be nicer than celebrating a new life or a new member of the family? I love the variety of locations a naming or welcoming ceremony can take place, and working together with the family to ensure this is an event filled with love, warmth and laughter. Each ceremony can include symbolic gestures, candles, balloons, bubbles, wishes, the choice is yours!
At the end you will receive a personal certificate signed by all the key people, as a keepsake.

Funeral Ceremonies

A funeral is one of THE most stressful times in your life, and it's incredibly important that their life story is told with compassion, warmth and love. So often people say "I never knew that about him/her" afterwards, and that's why humanist ceremonies are so increasingly popular. It's a celebration of life, all centred around your loved one, not about anyone or anything else. I spend around 2hrs with the family, in their home, and from that, we work together to create a unique, personal and fitting tribute. I also make sure the family have a presentation copy of the service, to keep and read later, under less stressful circumstances.
