Lesley Yule
Hi, thanks for having a look at my page. I am delighted to be able to introduce myself to you here, however, if you'd like to email me on lesley.yule@humanism.scot, we can chat about Humanist ceremonies and what you are looking for in yours, in some depth.
I fully understand and appreciate the trust you place in me to carry out your ceremony and perhaps you’d like to know a little about my background?
I have always worked with, and for, people. Initially, with a national communications company for 20 years, where I was involved in everything from complaint handling to nuisance call prevention. Latterly, most importantly, I worked as an advisor for customers who had communication difficulties. My aim was to maintain their independence and contact by enabling them to utilise various equipment to help with their difficulties. Similarly, when I later managed a mobility showroom, I was able to assess and suggest solutions for people with physical disabilities. Happily, in most situations, we were able to help and it was in these roles I first became involved in presenting to clients, professionals and interested groups. Of course, there were sad times, happy times, all part of everyday life and very rewarding when you are able to make a difference. I believe that these experiences help in my role as a celebrant.
Like many people I became interested in humanism after attending weddings and funerals delivered by humanist celebrants whose ceremonies were individual, meaningful and, above all, relevant. The stories they told were authentic, honest and totally person centred. I enjoy the experience of meeting people and turning their stories about loved ones, about each other and their joy at a new arrival or new beginning into a ceremony which is all about them.
To this end, I want you to be at the centre of this celebration, and I will endeavour to give you the ceremony you are hoping for, bringing out the story of your relationship, your hopes for the future and your memories of the past.
So, whether we work together on a Funeral, Naming Day or Wedding, my promise to you will be ..
To listen to your stories and memories
To encourage your input, respecting practicalities and sensitivities
To prepare the paperwork where necessary
And then to deliver for you, a meaningful, individual ceremony, for you to remember
I look forward to sharing this time with you

Wedding & Civil Partnership Ceremonies
One of the most enjoyable things about being a wedding celebrant, is meeting couples for the very first time, talking about how they met, their story and what they are looking for in their ceremony. It's great fun and a huge privilege when they choose me for their celebrant. It's even more exciting when we meet again, nearer to the big day and get down to writing the ceremony together. Best job ever !
Naming & Welcoming Ceremonies
What a wonderful idea to have a gathering of friends, family and loved ones to celebrate the birth of a baby, the blending of a family or the celebration and recognition of anyone who wants to welcome a change into their lives.
It doesn't have to be a big affair , doesn't have to be in a place of luxury and grandeur. It can be at home, in the garden, just wherever is practical, safe and where you decide. We can work together to deliver a ceremony with meaning, love and inclusion using stories, humour and symbolic gestures which are all relevant.
